Solomon Maguire, a Castle Hill Knights Baseball player, signs with a MLB club

We are super proud of our Solo… Castle Hill Knights player Solomon Maguire has inked a contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates at just the age of 16!

The outfielder, a product of the Castle Hill junior team has his dad and manager, Mark Maguire to thank for the deal. Mark has been the club president for several years.

From an early age his passion for the game was evident, taking every moment to practise where ever he could. Even in the garage at home!

Solo, is a former Boral Team Australia U12, U15 and U18 World Cup representative. He has also played for the Hills Juniors representative teams and grade for Baulkham Hills.

“It isn’t everyday where your dream turns into reality, ” he posted to social media after signing with the Pirates.

Solomon went 10- for- 35 (.286) with a squad-high seven RBIs in Australia’s fourth- place finish at the U18 World Cup in South Korea in September 2019. Watch Solomon’s World Cup Highlights here:

He has also represented NSW at the 2018 and 2019 Australian Youth Championship and been a member of the state’s high performance program since 2016.

He’s hitting .380 with 20 RBIs in 18 NSW State League games with the Kookaburras in 2019/20.
Maguire joins Robbie Glendinning and Brandan Bidois as Aussies on Pittsburgh’s books.

Solomon’s signing has already generated a lot of buzz locally.
