Club Update

To all Castle Hill Knights players, parents, supporters, sponsors and committee members

Castle Hill Knights Baseball Club is adhering to guidelines of Baseball NSW (see attached) and Hills Baseball Association has recommended.  As a result;

1. There will be no grand finals played this weekend. All games are cancelled.

2. There will be no Hills Little League, Junior League, Senior League or Minor League training. Training cancelled to further notice. All State Little League tournaments have been postponed.

3. There will be no Senior Winter League baseball before May 2nd. Please let our seniors VP know if you’re playing via email but do not pay your registration yet.  For those that have already paid, please contact Pat if you have any questions.  Further notice will be provided on season start dates as the situation becomes clearer.

4. Knights Under Lights winter development program is not meant to start until the beginning of May, however we feel it best to advise that the program is currently on hold.  Further notice will be provided on this program as the situation becomes clearer.

5 . There is to be NO group training of any baseball teams at either Castle Glen or Knights field.

6 . The Castle Hill Baseball presentation day is postponed until further notice.

7. The Castle Hill Baseball AGM is postponed until further notice.

Stay tuned to our club Facebook page as we will have excellent stories and great baseball tidbits to share with you. Plus, we will keep you posted with what’s happening in the future.
Finally, thank you for a wonderful summer season for our seniors and juniors.

Senior LL Trials

Senior LL:
Players are invited to pre nominate to trial for Senior LL. Nominations to johnyardhere@yahoo.com.au, information required is Player’s Name, DOB, Club, two preferred playing positions. Pre registration by 21st February, 2020.

Players who have changed Clubs or Associations, without changing Residential Address and do not have ‘Friendship status’ are ineligible to trial. Players with dual Membership involving two Associations may also be ineligible to trial.

Yet to determine the dates of the trials, the weather has interfered with trials for other LL teams. There is the added complication of players, who wish to trial, being involved in U18 State League.
Best guess is trials will be Sunday afternoon.

The eligible age range is September, 2003 to August, 2005. To be eligible to be selected players must be playing in either Youth or Cashmore Leagues and played 60% of the scheduled games (estimated at 12).

Hills have to enter two teams in this Competition, the teams will be of equal strength. There is no guarantee that players will be selected with their friends.

I fully understand the Financial demands of participating in LL National Championships, especially for those players who have attendedU16 National Championship. With that in mind, Hills will not insist on either team attending the National Championship if it qualified. That decision will be made by the successful team.
Our initial aim it to have competitive teams for the LL State Championship as we can control those costs.

Should we have insufficient players to form two teams (minimum of 22) then we will not enter one team in the State Championship as, based on last year, the team would not be included in the main draw. Last year’s experience in the Junior LL Loser’s Pool was unsatisfactory.

Date of State Championship is 21st to 24th April @ BISP. Cost is estimated at $150.

The National LL Championship for this age will be held in May, 2020 in Lismore. The estimated cost for that Tournament is $2,300

LL MINOR TRIALS

Trials for the 10-11 age Representative team, formally known as Minor LL, will commence on Saturday 1st February, 2020, Sunday 9th February .

The age range for this Competition is slightly different to that of the Hills’ Competition. The eligible age range is September, 2008 to August, 2011. To be eligible to trial players must be playing in a ‘live ball’ Competition, Bergan, Leonard or Catt Leagues.

There is confusion re the eligibility of nine year olds to play. My guess is that this will be their final year of eligibility.

Hills will enter two teams in this Competition, the teams will be of equal strength. Only 12 players will be selected in each team. This is a ‘trade off’ between two less players having the opportunity of selection and greater participation for the 24 selected players. Otherwise, the minimum participation in LL Championships is one ‘At Bat’ and one Fielding Innings. There is no use thinking that this won’t happen to your child because it most probably will.

Players are required to pre nominate to trial. Nominations to johnyardhere@yahoo.com.au, information required is Player’s Name, DOB, Club and two preferred playing positions. Pre registration by 29th January, 2020.

Players who have changed Clubs or Associations, without changing Residential Address and do not have ‘Friendship Status’ under the Hills Rules are ineligible to trial. Players with dual Membership with two Associations may also be ineligible to trial.

Date of State Championship is 16th to 19th April, 2020 at Aquatic Reserve, French’s Forest. Cost is estimated at $120. There is no National LL Championship for this age

Players who unsuccessfully trialled for LL Representative team are eligible for Selection.

This will be Hills’ most competitive age this Season as there a number of age eligible players to trial who are already playing in both Divisions of Catt League (13U)
